What to Expect
Amanda and Jessica were trained at the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy, are nationally certified through the National Certification Board for Massage and Bodywork, and are members in good standing with the American Massage Therapy Association. These associations require the highest degree of professionalism, continuing education, and a commitment to specific ethics and standards.
Each appointment begins with a private discussion with your therapist about your goal for the session. You will be asked about your medical history, daily stresses, water intake, areas of concern, and other factors that might influence your session. Together, you and your therapist will determine the area(s) to be treated, the type of massage you wish to receive and set a goal for your session. Your goal may be simply to relax, or you may wish to focus your session on a particular area of discomfort.
Each massage suite is different, but they are both private, cozy and warm. Each room is equipped with a heater, candles, music, a place for your personal belongings and a table with sheets and blankets for relaxation and comfort.
You will be left in private for both undressing and dressing. During your session, only the portion of your body being worked on will be exposed. Draping with sheets and blankets is an important part of our ethics and standards. We respect your privacy and modesty.
You may choose to be silent or talkative during your session. Your therapist will check in with you to determine the amount of pressure and the effectiveness of various techniques. Greater understanding leads to greater healing -- questions are always welcomed!
After your session, your therapist will discuss your experience during the session and any future goals. Click here for tips on how to maximize the benefits of massage before and after your session.
